Jack o’Lanterns 2009

So we carved pumpkins last night. Jack really liked scooping out the handfuls of “guts” this year. He was actually very helpful in saving the seeds for toasting (even though he thought that sounded gross).

He drew a face (with a little help from Daddy)… but the carving was purely a Daddy Job this year. The skins were 2.5″ thick at least. And rock hard. I’ve never had such difficult pumpkins to carve. I thought it was just a local thing (I’d picked them up at the Farmer’s Market in town) but Momma said her pumpkin was just as hard. (And she bought her’s in September when in the U.P.)

Jack wanted his to have an “angry face” which is somewhat appropriate for this week. He’s been a little out-of-sorts. Mine (that was really Robby’s because Jack said that “Mommy’s pumpkin is the eating pumpkin” which I baked and then pureed for a cake today…) has my traditional jagged grin.

Happy Halloween.
